Erogen by Genetic Labs is a medical product designed to treat erectile dysfunction, which is the inability to achieve and maintain an erection necessary for sexual intercourse. Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibition enhances erectile function by increasing the amount of cGMP. Tadalafil (as well as sildenafil and vardenafil) inhibits FDE5. However, since sexual stimulation is necessary to initiate local release of nitric oxide in the penis, inhibition of FDE5 by tadalafil will have no effect without sexual stimulation.
